2019 Ford GT Gets Heritage Gulf Livery

In the automotive world, there are a few racing liveries that truly stand out in motorsport history. For the Ford GT, the American Gulf Oil livery is just about as iconic as they come. “Many view the Gulf Oil paint scheme as the most famous in motorsports,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president, global operations. “The 1968 GT40 quickly became a global sensation after beating its European competitors on the track four times in a row, and in honor of the 50th anniversary of its win, we’re paying fresh tribute to the original with a new heritage limited edition.”

Now, Ford is paying homage to this famous car with the new 2019 GT Heritage Edition that features this very livery. For the 2019 model, the car comes with the blue and orange exterior, as well as No. 9 graphics on the hood and door. For 2020, the GT Heritage Edition will honor the car that won Le Mans in 1969 with No. 6 being represented on the doors and hood. On top of the livery, the exterior for the Heritage Edition will, for the first time, have the exposed carbon fiber accent package available.

Inside, the car has Ebony Alcantara on the headliner, instrument panel, pillars, seats and steering wheels. There’s also blue and orange stitching in the cabin, which matches the exterior’s livery. Ford’s also adorning each GT Heritage Edition with a serialized ID plate.

“We are delighted to partner with Ford to help the Gulf-themed Heritage Edition Ford GT become reality. The Ford Marque has played a major role in creating Gulf’s place in motoring and motorsporting legend and the same is true in reverse,” enthused MD of Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd, Ravi Chawla.
