2019 Mustang Shelby GT350 Improved for Better Lap Times

Ford Performance has now revealed their improvements to the 2019 Mustang Shelby GT350 sports car. They say these changes give the car more precision and balance, enabling it to deliver faster lap times and better performance on the track and street.

“Somewhere, Carroll is smiling,” said Hermann Salenbauch, global director for Ford Performance vehicle programs. “The new Shelby GT350 is our ultimate track Mustang. We’ve stuck to Carroll Shelby’s original formula for winning championships and made our Shelby GT350 even better with the latest in race-proven aerodynamics, tire and chassis technology.”

So what exactly did Ford do to improve on the GT350? For starters, the aerodynamics have been modified. A new rear spoiler with an optional Gurney flap stars in the rear, while the front now features an optimized grille. Upgrades were also made to the MagnaRide suspension (recalibrated springs and revised damping). New Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires with a Shelby GT350-specific tread pattern were also designed, thanks to a collaboration between Ford  Performance and Michelin.

If you’re hoping for more power, you’re out of luck as the 5.2-liter V8 engine’s output remains at 526 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Granted, that’s not a bad thing when you consider how formidable this engine is.

Inside, the cabin remains comfortable and stylish, yet sporty enough to bear the Shelby name. Also, a new sound system is now available: a custom-tuned 12-speaker B&O PLAY audio system by HARMAN.

Those looking to order a new 2019 Shelby GT350 will be able to choose between the known colors, as well as the new Velocity Blue and Ford Performance Blue. It will be available in early 2019.
