2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 Breaks Auction Record at Barrett-Jackson

Saturday in Scottsdale was the place to be. While many were recovering from our Friday night party, Ford partnered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Their goal was to auction the first-production example of Ford’s new supercar. Watching from the Muscle Lounge, we saw the bidding frenzy erupt as the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 broke auction records. The winning bid was the highest ever offered for a new Mustang, $1.1 million, and it came from an unlikely bidder.

Starting with no reserve, the price quickly escalated thanks to Ford fans and philanthropists who want to advance the cause of diabetes research. The frenzy reached a new high when our friend Craig Jackson tossed his hat in the ring. The owner and CEO of Barrett-Jackson could not be beaten, so he has won the rights to the first production car.
