Ford’s new F-150 Lightning Switchgear combines robust off-road capabilities with cutting-edge electric performance.
Ford Performance has just electrified the off-road world with their latest electrified innovation, the all-new F-150 Lightning Switchgear. Ford’s high-performance demonstrator, born from a collaboration between Ford and RTR Vehicles, redefines the adventurous capabilities of electric trucks. Inspired by the 2016 F-150 RTR Ultimate Fun-Haver, the Switchgear discovers new paths while tearing up terrain with its 37-inch NITTO Ridge Grappler tires. Engineered with a custom carbon exterior body and sporting the 2024 Ford Performance livery, the F-150 Lightning Switchgear joins an elite fleet of Ford’s electric demonstrators, including the Mustang Mach-E 1400 and the F-100 Eluminator.
The Switchgear is built for the most extreme environments. Its widened track and upgraded ground clearance, paired with improved suspension travel, ensure off-road stability like never before. Fitted with FOX 3-inch diameter internal bypass shock absorbers and a suspension system designed for both off-road ruggedness and on-road performance, this Switchgear is as versatile as it is powerful. Its suspension system features a unique independent double-wishbone setup at the front and a multilink independent arrangement at the rear. To top it off, the truck is armored with steel fabricated rock rails and a front skid plate. The Ford F-150 Lightning Switchgear makes its public debut at the King of the Hammers in Johnson Valley, California, starting January 25.
