Barrett-Jackson recently had the pleasure of offering the first 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition for auction at their recent Scottsdale event. Ford GT Heritage Edition, VIN 001, crossed the block with Joe Hinrichs, President of Ford, and Dr. Darienne Driver, President and CEO of United Way for Southeastern Michigan, behind the wheel. Dr. Driver’s attendance was due to the fact that the entire hammer price of the car was set to benefit United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
After bids flew in, there was one final bid that ended the Ford GT Heritage Edition’s auction at Barrett-Jackson and it came from none other than Rick Hendrick of Hendrick Motorsports. The bid he cast was $2.5 million, an amount that’s well over the MSRP of the car but all of that cash went to a good cause.
This GT supercar wasn’t the only wild Ford auction at Barrett-Jackson. Shortly after its reveal, the first 2020 Shelby GT500 was auctioned off and had a hammer price of $1.1 million. That bid was the largest bid ever place on a Mustang, according to Barrett-Jackson.
