A famous musician and supercar aficionado admires Gordon Murray’s latest masterpiece.
Besides being the lead vocalist of the legendary band Jamiroquai, Jay Kay is known for being one of the world’s most prolific celebrity car enthusiasts, with an iconic collection that has featured some of the world’s greatest automotive creations. The list of incredible cars he’s owned includes Ferraris (Enzo, a one-off Signal Green LaFerrari, F40, F355, and even a one-off 1965 Ferrari 330 GT Shooting Brake), the Lamborghini Diablo SE30, Lamborghini Miura and ma ny more. The iconic music video for “Cosmic Girl” is a well-known celebration of his car collection, with the band showing the beautiful supercars off in scenes.
However, his affinity for fine automobiles is for more than just owning them. He also is known for his impressive ability on the track, being one of the fastest “Star In a Reasonably Priced Car” contestants on Top Gear for years. Now, his vast supercar collection may be increasing even more, as recently, Jay Kay posted a new video on Jamiroquai’s Instagram account with the new Gordon Murray Automotive T50, in which he describes the new supercar as “the finest V12 car in the world.”
Inspired greatly by Murray’s revolutionary design of the record-breaking McLaren F1, the T50 seeks to preserve the idea of an automotive purist’s dream car, combining a beautiful 3-seat design with butterfly doors like the McLaren F1, revolutionary engineering including fan-assisted downforce, a manual transmission, and a specially-created V12 from Gordon Murray Automotive and Cosworth that revs to a soaring 12,100 rpm.
Finished with a sliver exterior and an interior that pairs bright green with dark navy blue, the new T.50 is the perfect new addition to Jay Kay’s collection. With incredible driving character, and its status as part of a precious and dying breed of supercars, hopefully, the amazing Gordon Murray Automotive T50 will take part in a successor to the iconic “Cosmic Girl” video.
