Activision Blizzard Inc is being sued by AM General LLC over the use of Humvee military vehicles in the “Call of Duty” video game franchise without permission, according to Reuters.

A complaint filed at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan says that Activision took used both the “goodwill and reputation” of the “Humvee and “HMMWV” names by using them in the Call of Duty games, and in branded toys and books. AM General says that the game franchise’s success is due to the inclusion of the AM General licenses, making the consumers think that AM General is somehow connected to the games.
Dating back to 2003, the Call of Duty games have seen new iterations released just about every year. By 2016, sales of the videos games had increased to over 250 million units. Now, Activision has released Call of Duty: WWII, which is currently sitting at an 80 Metacritic score as of the time of publishing this article.
