It’s time to sit back and listen to a wild story. One of the corporate partnerships and the sharing of technology. Nissan and their luxury brand Infiniti love to spoil us with factory fresh versions of their latest achievements. We are happy to review them before anyone else because they build quality products.
Deja Vu in the driver’s seat doesn’t happen very often. That’s why the QX30 arrived with something familiar. As we took turns behind the wheel, it seemed eerily similar to something else, but none of us could verbalize the feelings….more on this later
The QX30 launched in 2016 with a 2.0-liter turbo four. It offers 208 horsepower and 258 (wow) lb-ft of torque. Front wheel drive is standard, with optional AWD on the upper trim levels. Inside you are treated to all the modern conveniences, but a few of the menus are slow & clunky to navigate.

It was the controls that completed the mystery for us. A close look at the shifter and the instrument panel and we cracked the secret code. Underneath the Infiniti QX30 is a Mercedes-Benz GLA 250. The VIN will mislead you because it is assembled at a Nissan factory in England. A Japanese luxury compact crossover is a badge-engineered German, and they got it right.
It is not the fastest car in this segment, but it features Infiniti’s smooth & unique styling along with the solid foundation of the GLA. The base price is a hair under 30 grand which is a few thousand below the Mercedes version. It is a great value if you are in the market, so stay with us for more news & reviews.
