Honoring an icon that won its Le Mans debut in 1951.

Jaguar has just announced the new C-type Continuation model as a hand-built limited-edition model. Paying homage to the iconic C-types that dominated the Le Mans 24 Hours in the early 1950s, Jaguar is building these new continuation models to the 1953 Le Mans-winning works team car specification. Each one comes powered by a 3.4-liter straight-six engine complete with triple Weber carburetors. Housing the engine is a body and chassis that Jaguar painstakingly created by using archived materials like original drawings and the original engineering ledger. It took the team almost two years to compile the data so that a 3D CAD model could be created, making this the first Jaguar Classic Continuation model that has been created in this manner. To ensure that the C-type Continuation is up to par, they put it through over 1,000 miles of high-speed durability testing.

Jaguar will be debuting the C-type Continuation as the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace, England September 3-5.
