The automotive industry is undergoing a seismic shift as electric vehicles are starting to replace traditional internal combustion engines. Industry leaders are pivoting to electrified practices, investing in cutting-edge technology to engineer automobiles that are more efficient and eco-friendly, signaling a transition in the history of mobility. Jaguar is accelerating the EV revolution by supporting the launch of one of Europe’s most extensive EV charging hubs. Located at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, the extensive charging hub resides close to Jaguar’s various facilities. Housing an impressive 180 charging points, the space is equipped with 16 rapid 300kW DC chargers and an additional 150 7kW AC charging points, all powered by renewable energy sources including a solar panel canopy.
During August, a fleet of 32 Jaguar I-PACEs were used to rigorously test the hub’s capabilities in power distribution, rapid charging, and vehicle connection. This comes as the I-PACE itself has garnered over 90 global awards since its debut, including a historic treble at the 2019 World Car of the Year Awards. Besides the NEC hub, Jaguar also offers access to a sprawling network of over 500,000 chargers across the UK and Europe via the Jaguar Charging app. This strategic move strengthens Jaguar’s commitment to EVs and adds sustainability in Birmingham as a growing hub for electric mobility.
