The Lamborghini Huracan STO And The Lexus LFA Battle On The Drag Strip

Modern V10 legends cross paths and play rivals.

The V10 engine isn’t very common in the automotive world. It’s usually reserved, as it should be, for vehicles that need lots of power, or world-class supercars that use the engine to its fullest extent when it comes to performance, and of course sound. The V10 engine note is one that is unmistakably recognizable, and when a supercar makes use of one, it just about instantly becomes an icon. The Lamborghini Huracan STO and Lexus LFA are both amazing examples of this, two cars that we know and love not just for their incredible V10 sound and performance, but also for their style, performance, and innovation.

YouTube channel Throttle House has put them together to race, and while there isn’t much reason to race two cars like this, it’s a perfect excuse to hear them roar. The LFA is famously symphonic thanks to being lent a hand in the acoustic engineering department from Yamaha, and the Lamborghini Huracan is excitingly raucous as well. Both cars are rear-wheel drive and powered by naturally aspirated V10s, however, the Huracan STO is around a decade newer, with a mid-mounted engine and increased power and torque compared to the Lexus.

From the get-go, it was quite obvious that the Huracan STO was going to win the race, especially considering the drivers’ inability to use launch control on the LFA so as to not risk damaging the expensive clutch. Whatever the case, this is a rare occasion in which the race isn’t about which car gets past the line first. Rather, it’s about celebrating the V10 engine and the legendary cars that possess it.
