Noticing another struggling automaker, he organized the purchase of Lamborghini in the late 80’s. By this time, their first SUV was almost ready, but it needed final testing to meet our DOT laws. The most public way to introduce it was entering One Lap of America. Chrysler sponsored a 3-man team to compete in this SCCA sanctioned rally. It is perhaps the most difficult Lamborghini ever built, combining a Countach drivetrain with rugged suspension. But it was meant for military use so compromises were made.
