For those who speed on Italian highways, beware of the new Lamborghini Urus police car.
For the past 20 years, Lamborghini has relished its relationship with the Italian “Polizia di Stato” through collaboration supercars outfitted with the gear and visuals of an everyday police car. If you’re an avid car enthusiast, you may remeber the famous ‘Polozia’ 2014 Gallardo making waves in the news as a donation to the department from Lamborghini. The predecessor to the Gallardo was a Huracán LP 610-4 that was specially designed for special services like urgent medical transport of organs and plasma. With a new lineup of Italian super SUVs, Lamborghini recently delivered a new Urus Performante to the Italian Highway Police during a special ceremony in Rome outside of the Ministry of the Interior headquarters. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, handed over the keys to the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in the presence of Head of Police, Vittorio Pisani.
The new Urus Performante police livery was designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile, featuring the classic blue shade of the Italian State Police, white, and the Italian tricolor. The police decals have been applied to the doors in reflective film, while the exterior also comes fit with a roof light bar and a two-tone electric siren. The Urus Performante’s interior has been customized with essential upgrades for public security services, including an armored box for weapons, a retractable message display, and a dedicated trunk space for storing service gear and a defibrillator for emergency medical response. The most important addition is the portable refrigerator designed for organ transportation, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of vital medical supplies. With a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 that generates more than 656 horsepower, there’s no doubt that the Italian Highway Police won’t have any trouble with speeders or medical transport at the start of 2024.
