So. A Porsche, a Lexus and two BMWs pull up to a starting line. The Porsche turns to the BMW and says… well, it says nothing.
See, this isn’t a joke. It’s a four-way drag race courtesy of Autocar, and it’s an awesome showdown of some of the best sports cars on the market. In a video shared to YouTube Oct. 20, the Autocar team lined up a Lexus RC F, Porsche Cayman GT4, BMW M4 and BMW i8 to see which one is fastest off the line, with some surprisingly close results.

Though they’re all competing in the same segment and offer comparable performance figures, the construction of each car is completely different from the others. In the Lexus we see a V8 with rear wheel drive, the Porsche offers a flat 6 mid-engine with rear wheel drive, the M4 boasts a turbocharged straight 6 and rear wheel drive and the i8 is the hybrid contender, mixing electric and gas power with all wheel drive.
