Lincoln predicted Americans would return to full-size SUVs. Staying ahead of the curve, the new Navigator is the first domestic SUV to be built of aluminum. Starting with a fully-loaded long wheelbase Navigator, all external body panels are removed and reinforced with thick steel. This includes the floors, roof, and protection for the engine and radiator. To achieve a protection level of BR6, it is built to handle all small arms up to armor piercing 30-06. It can also shrug off two DM51 hand grenades detonated simultaneously on the roof and under the floor.
To handle this, all the door gaps have overlapped steel plates, and the hinges are machined from solid billets. All glass is replaced with thick acrylic while maintaining a stock appearance. The suspension is beefed up to handle the weight, and the Raptor’s twin-turbo V6 has no problem moving this beast.
