This year, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In that time, some of the world’s most desirable, iconic, and influential luxury and exotic cars have graced the cover of our magazine over the past 40 years, and together, the cover cars of duPont REGISTRY’s hundreds of monthly issues tell a story of automotive history and its evolution since the ‘80s.

January – Mercedes-Benz SEC Convertible
The iconic Mercedes-Benz grand tourer of the ’80s, the SEC, specifically in its open-top format, starred on the cover of duPont REGISTRY in January 1988.
February – Talbot-Lago Type 26C-DA
This historic race car is a beautiful classic, and in February 1988, this Talbot-Lago Grand Prix car earned a spot on the cover of duPont REGISTRY.
March – Isdera Imperator 108i
Powered by a Mercedes-Benz engine and starting life as a Mercedes-Benz concept, the Isdera Imperator was a unique supercar icon, and one of many eye-catching retro creations that can be found on early covers of duPont REGISTRY, like the March 1988 issue.
April – Porsche 928, Porsche 911, Porsche 944
Porsche’s celebrated icons, including its two transaxle sports cars at the time, the 928 and the 944, star alongside the iconic 911 in duPont REGISTRY’s third anniversary issue, which was published for April 1988.
May – Bentley Mark V
Bentley’s century of history includes a longstanding legacy of collector-worthy masterpieces and stunning classics, like this Bentley, whose close-up of the grille and headlights served as the cover for the May 1988 issue of duPont REGISTRY.
June – Lamborghini Countach
The ever-iconic Lamborghini Countach continues to influence not only Lamborghini’s creations today but also wrote the blueprint for stunning, head-turning supercars that earn decades of legacy and reverence. The stunning Countach landed the cover spot on June 1988’s duPont REGISTRY.
July – BMW 7 Series
BMW’s flagship luxury sedan model has decades of legacy, and in the 1980s, the respected 7 Series served as duPont REGISTRY’s July 1988 cover car.
August – Ferrari F40
One of Ferrari’s most legendary and desirable collector-grade supercars, and one of the most difficult cars for enthusiasts to get their hands on, the racing-derived Ferrari F40, which the new Ferrari F80 pays homage to today, stars on duPont REGISTRY’s August 1988 cover.
September – Rolls-Royce Phantom
Forever a staple and icon of Rolls-Royce’s history, and a staple classic on duPont REGISTRY’s early covers, the Rolls-Royce Phantom makes another appearance on the September 1988 cover.
October – Chevrolet Corvette
One of the most legendary American performance cars, the Chevrolet Corvette has spent decades being one of the most celebrated American cars. The iconic C2 Stingray is shown on our October 1988 cover.
November – Jaguar D-type
The iconic vintage Jaguar racing machine that is the D-type carved an important motorsport legacy for the manufacturer, one that is still celebrated today and certainly was celebrated on the November 1988 issue of duPont REGISTRY.
December – Porsche 911 Cabriolet
Depicted driving in the snow with a holiday-appropriate red interior, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet stars yet again on the cover of duPont REGISTRY, specifically for the December 1988 issue.
