After 40 years, duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars capture moments in automotive history.
This year, duPont REGISTRY, the source for supercars since 1985, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. In that time, some of the world’s most desirable, iconic, and influential luxury and exotic cars have graced the cover of our magazine over the past 40 years, and together, the cover cars of duPont REGISTRY’s hundreds of monthly issues tell a story of automotive history and its evolution since the ‘80s.
Looking back at duPont REGISTRY’s cover cars from the year 1994, some serious nostalgia is stirred up for any automotive enthusiast, and each year, a cover car shows an iconic moment of the past, when a car we see as a classic today was the hottest new creation on the market. January – Ford Mustang
One of America’s performance heroes took the cover of duPont REGISTRY in January 1994, and that was the Ford Mustang, the original pony car.
February – Mercedes-Benz CL
Mercedes-Benz’s flagship coupe is put alongside a classic motorcycle, presenting any enthusiast with a difficult choice as for which one to take they keys to, as the February 1994 duPont REGISTRY cover says.
March – Lotus Esprit S4
The Lotus Esprit is one of the most iconic sports cars in the long and storied legacy of the manufacturer, and the S4 variant in yellow took over duPont REGISTRY’s March 1994 cover.
April – Porsche 911
The Porsche 911 is a duPont REGISTRY cover favorite, and of course, one of the world’s favorite sports cars in automotive history. In red, it’s shown on the April 1994 duPont REGISTRY cover.
May – Mercedes-Benz 500 SL RENNTech
The Mercedes-Benz SL is a legendary sports car, and customization firm RENNTech is known for its ability to transform Mercedes-Benz models with greater performance than they usually come with, as was the case with this 500 SL shown on the May 1994 cover.
June – Lamborghini Diablo
The Lamborghini Diablo, the reigning king of Lamborghini supercars in its time, was the cover star of duPont REGISTRY’s June 1994 cover.
July – Chevrolet Corvette
Cemented in tradition by July 1994 when it broke cover, duPont REGISTRY’s cover star was two generations of the Chevrolet Corvette.
August – Ferrari 348 Challenge
The Ferrari 348 Challenge was the racing version of one of Ferrari’s most iconic ’90s supercars, offering customers to experience what Ferrari does best: track excellence. In August 1998, it starred on duPont REGISTRY’s cover.
September – Bugatti EB110
Bugatti’s EB110 is one of the most notorious supercars from the manufacturer, and its quad-turbocharged V12 predated the quad-turbocharged W16 of the Veyron. It was duPont REGISTRY’s September 1994 cover star.
October – BMW M3
The BMW M3 is one of the most celebrated luxury performance cars ever, and in October 1994, it was the cover star for duPont REGISTRY.
November – Bentley Java
Based on the BMW 5-Series of the time, the Bentley Java was an odd creation from a strange point in Bentley’s long history, originally intended only to be a concept, although examples are owned by the Sultan of Brunei. Its sportier formula would eventually be realized in the Continental GT.
December – Porsche 911 Slantnose
Yet another Porsche features as the December cover star of duPont REGISTRY in 1994, a 911, interestingly with both a Speedster body style and a slantnose front.
