New 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS is Hybrid and Mean

Mercedes-Benz has completely overhauled the CLS-Class for the 2019 model year, and the result is an absolutely stunning sedan that drives and looks like a coupe.

Obviously, we can tell that the new CLS looks very different with the new styling. The most prominent exterior modifications definitely come in the front end of the car. Looking straight on at the car, you’d think that the new CLS450 was an AMG model with how aggressive and sleek it looks. And that’s probably because AMG body styling comes as a standard appointment of the CLS.

Right behind that redesigned front fascia is where the wizardry of the new CLS takes place. Powering the 2019 CLS 450 and CLS450 4MATIC is an all-new in-line six-cylinder engine with what Mercedes is called “EQ Boost.” Sounds electric, doesn’t it? That’s because the EQ Boost is actually an integrated electric motor that assists the engine. Joining the EQ Boost system is a 48-volt system. On its own, the six-cylinder engine pumps out a formidable 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That power can be advanced even further with the EQ Boost, which donates an extra 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque over short periods. That means the CLS450 has the ability to run at 383 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.

This special edition comes with a long list of features, including the Copper Art interior concept, an exterior based around the AMG Line, LED Intelligent Light headlights, “Edition 1” lettering on the front fenders, 19-inch multi-spoke AMG light allow wheel in black and more.
