Entry-Level 2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC Announced

A new entry-level model has just been introduced by Daimler: the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC. This new model looks like it’s going to be a fun drive and perfect for those who are fans of hot hatches. “With the new A 35, we are fulfilling our brand promise of driving performance in every detail and offering thrilling lateral dynamics at the level of today’s A 45,” says Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Under the hood of the 2019 A35 AMG is a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. This little engine puts out solid power: 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm. Mated to this engine is the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission. Smash the pedal down and the A35 AMG will run from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds. Not bad for an entry-level model.

As with most AMG models, the new A35 AMG comes packing some features that make spirited driving more efficient and, frankly, fun. Underneath the stylish body is a strengthened front section that gives the hot hatch better turn-in ability. There’s also an aluminum plate bolted under the engine and two diagonal braces in the front that increase stiffness and reduce torsion. It’s all in the name of better cornering. AMG also included the five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programs: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Individual. The new addition in these programs is the “Slippery” program, which is optimized for slippery road conditions (no surprise there).

The 2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC will be premiered at the Paris Motor Show on October 2 and sales will start in October. As of right now, it’s only confirmed for Western Europe. Hopefully we can get our hands on this new AMG in the states.
