2019 Mercedes-Benz Model Changes

Another year, another round of updates for cars. The latest news about 2019 lineup changes from Mercedes-Benz.

For the upcoming year, Mercedes-Benz has a long list of changes coming to the new luxury cars. Because of this long list, the press release is dense with information and I want to break it down as easily as possible for you all. So here’s the breakdown, direct from Mercedes:

• “Third-generation CLS debuts new coupe style plus in-line six-cylinder turbo powertrain with EQ Boost and 48V electric system
• Full redesign of iconic G-Class SUV brings greater comfort, luxury, technology and safety, plus enhanced off-road capability
• First-ever AMG GT 4-Door Coupe offered in three variants
• E-Class Family adds E 450 and E 450 4MATIC models
• New AMG CLS 53 and E 53 performance models with in-line six, 48V, EQ Boost and electric auxiliary supercharger
• C-Class debuts more powerful 2.0L turbo engine and AMG- enhanced 3.0L V6 biturbo engine, design and safety updates
• Most advanced Intelligent Drive safety features added to more model lines
• All SUVs add new comfort and convenience features”

That’s quite the list. The most popular of these changes has to be the new G-Class design, as well as the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.

Now the question is: when can you get these cars? Thankfully, Mercedes also included a full timeline of what’s to come, with dates subject to change.

The C-Class family is fully refreshed for MY19 with enhancements to performance, technology and styling across the lineup, as well as valuable additions to standard equipment.

• The C 300 Sedan, Coupe and Cabriolet receive a new 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine producing 255 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque
• Addition of advanced technology including the newest generation of Driver Assistance featuring Active Lane Change Assist, Route-Based Speed Adaptation, etc.
• Refreshed headlamps, taillamps, front and rear fascias
• LED headlamps and Smartphone Integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) are now standard on all C-Class models

Introducing new variants for 2019: E 450 4MATIC & all-new AMG E 53 Sedan

New engine, 48V electrical system, fully variable all-wheel drive, larger brakes and more equipment features: the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Sedan. The centerpiece of the new E 53 Sedan is the electrified AMG-enhanced 3.0L in-line 6 Turbo Engine with EQ Boost featuring an electric auxiliary compressor. The in-line 6-cylinder engine generates an output of 429 hp and delivers a peak torque of 384 lb-ft which is supplemented with an electric EQ Boost starter generator. Other technical highlights include the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and the fully variable all-wheel drive system
AMG Performance 4MATIC+.

Introducing new model designation for 2019: E 450 & E 450 4MATIC Coupe & Cabriolet and all-new AMG E 53 Coupe & Cabriolet

The new E 53 Coupe & Cabriolet models combine powerful performance with sporty style and high efficiency. At their heart lies a new, electrified 3.0-liter engine featuring an exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric auxiliary compressor. The cylinder in-line engine generates 429 hp and delivers maximum torque of 384 lb- ft. Its EQ Boost starter-alternator momentarily provides an additional 21 hp of output plus 184 lb-ft of torque and furthermore feeds the 48 V on-board electrical system. Other technical highlights include the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission and the fully variable all-wheel drive system AMG Performance 4MATIC+.

CLS                                                        

All-new model for 2019

With the launch of the first-generation CLS in 2004, a new segment was born. Combining the emotional charisma of a Coupe with the comfort and functionality of a Sedan, the four-door CLS was a true design icon. Today, the third-generation CLS continues to be the forerunner of a refined Mercedes-Benz design language. The CLS is also among the first vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG lineup with 48-volt technology offering increased performance.

• New 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with EQ Boost, producing 362 and 369 lb-ft of torque mated to the superb 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission
• EQ Boost pairs an Integrated Starter-Generator with a 48V battery to supply up to an additional 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque at predetermined RPM ranges
