The latest is the new RENNtech RIIIx, an upgraded version of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe that has the power, speed, and engineering to be considered a “family supercar.”
The “family supercar” designation isn’t taken lightly, as the RIIIx boasts an incredible 1,196 horsepower. It starts with the Mercedes-AMG car’s M177 twin-turbocharged V8, which is then given Stage II high-performance turbochargers and a re-mapped ECU to deliver that amount of horsepower and 927 lb/ft of torque. With various powertrain and transmission upgrades, that power goes to all four wheels, which are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires for great traction. Combine all of this with a special aerodynamic package, and you’re left with a car that does the quarter-mile in just 9.9 seconds at 139 mph, getting from 0-60 in just 2.44 seconds.
