A press release issued by the German manufacturer today shares the introduction of the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC, an SUV that can achieve almost anything a sports saloon can. The GLE’s V6 engine has been cranked up to further produce more power, and particularly more torque, while other AMG features have made their way into its handling and suspension.
A total of 367 hp and 383.5 lb-ft propel this five-seater to 62 mph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed maxing out at 155 mph. Five different driving modes allow you to select just how that power is used; the Individual setting is a customized power distribution, “Comfort” keeps the focus on providing an easy drive, “Slippery” will optimize handling for wet or icy roads, “Sport” makes the drive a little more fun and “Sport Plus” cranks the systems all the way up.
“The GLE 450 AMG, the third sports model from AMG after the C 450 AMG and GLE 450 AMG Coupé, is fulfilling our brand promise of Driving Performance in every respect,” said CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH Tobias Moers in the release.
Other features either standard or available as options for this new AMG monster include a number of driver assist programs, including Collision Prevention Assist, Crosswind Assist and Driving Assistance Plus, as well as two-tone nappa leather, Bang & Olufsen BeoSound surround sound system, LED Intelligent lighting and more.
