The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, also known as the G-Class, has a fascinating history and a lasting impact on the automotive industry. Originally designed as a military vehicle in the 1970s, the G-Wagon has since evolved into a luxury SUV highly sought-after by car enthusiasts and celebrities alike. With its iconic boxy shape, robust build, and impressive off-road capabilities, the G-Wagon has become an iconic symbol of status and adventure. Rolling off the production line for the past 44 years since its launch onto the market, Mercedes-Benz is proud to announce the assembly of its 500,000th G-Class.

In the span of 40 years, the G-Class has transformed from a utilitarian workhorse to a coveted lifestyle icon. To mark this significant production milestone, Mercedes-Benz has created a stunning one-of-a-kind vehicle. Drawing inspiration from the early G-Class models, the 500,000th “G” features a flawless design with a striking agave green paint that pays homage to one of the earliest color options for the G-Class. This commemorative vehicle is sure to turn heads and capture the attention of all owners and enthusiasts.

The interior of the 500,000th vehicle is also inspired by the 280 GE. For example, the middle section of the seat is upholstered in the chequered fabric typical of the time, while the grab handle on the passenger side features the lettering “No. 500,000” in agave green. CEO Mercedes-Benz G Dr. Emmerich Schiller celebrated the milestone by saying “We are proud of this figure, which also underscores the exclusivity of the G-Class. After all, four whole decades have led to this significant anniversary.”

Mercedes-Benz preps for production of the next generation of G-Class luxury SUVs, which will feature all-electric drivetrains. View all of the current Mercedes-Benz G-Class examples for sale on duPont REGISTRY by clicking the link below.
