Plug-in hybrids emerge as the hero of a strong third quarter for Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz boasts an extensive lineup of luxury vehicles, appealing to drivers looking for roadster thrill, sedan comfort, or SUV practicality. With the third quarter of 2024 in the books, Mercedes-Benz USA is reporting a 9-percent growth in its total passenger car sales year-to-date, compared to the numbers at the end of the third quarter of 2023. Comparing the third quarter of last year with the third quarter of this year, the growth is a robust 33 percent, with 2023’s third quarter seeing 64,019 passenger car sales and 2024’s third quarter seeing 85,037 passenger car sales.
The most interesting statistic in the quarter was the increase in sales of Mercedes-Benz’s plug-in hybrid models, which is up 213 percent compared to the third quarter. A plethora of new plug-in hybrid Mercedes models have been introduced like the GLE 350e 4MATIC, and the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE, the S 63 E PERFORMANCE, and the AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE have also contributed to the increased sales of Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids.
However, the successful quarter included favorable results for more than just plug-in hybrids. Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End vehicles saw 33 percent increased sales, sales of the Core segment increased by 43 percent, and the Entry segment increased by 27 percent. With its innovative and luxurious lineup of diverse vehicles, Mercedes-Benz asserted success in the third quarter of 2024.
