Mercedes-Benz celebrates the origin of one of its greatest icons.
The G-Class is one of the most recognizable and important models ever introduced by Mercedes-Benz, remaining one of the longest-standing models in production from the historic manufacturer. Despite its military origins, the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon has evolved into one of the world’s premier luxury off-roaders, with unmistakable style, incredible off-road capability, body-on-frame construction, and signature glamour.
As the Mercedes-Benz G-Class enters a new era, with the first all-electric version of the cherished model being introduced, along with a new generation of its staple variants, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new exclusive version of the G-Class that celebrates its origins in the 1980s. Echoing the look of the original 280 GE from the W 460 generation that started the legacy of the G-Class we know today, the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s is an homage to one of the greatest legacies in the automotive world.
Paying homage to the original Geländewagen, the new exclusive STRONGER THAN THE 1980s comes in a range of heritage-inspired colors, like MANUFAKTUR Agave Green, MANUFAKTUR Cream, and MANUFAKTUR Colorado Beige. The special edition features amber indicator lights above the headlights, 18-inch silver wheels, a historic Mercedes-Benz logo, and retro-inspired off-road touches to complete the vintage look throughout the exterior.
The interior also features vintage details, like Dove Grey fabric seat inserts and a B-pillar design inspired by the ‘80s original. Adding exclusivity to the new special edition, the G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s will only see 460 examples made worldwide, and it will arrive at U.S. Mercedes-Benz dealerships later in 2025. Honoring the heritage of one of Mercedes-Benz’s most legendary models, the new G-Class STRONGER THAN THE 1980s is a collector-worthy masterpiece.
