Art and automotive luxury combine.

Maybach is one of the most ubiquitous and celebrated names in automotive luxury, with a model lineup that celebrates elegant style, painstaking attention to detail, incredible craftsmanship and opulent luxury. One of its longtime collaborators as a brand is the equally ubiquitous photographer David LaChapelle, whose portfolio includes myriad iconic celebrity photo shoots, and an unforgettable maximalist, colorful style that he is known for championing.

With a shared dedication to artistry, style, and craftsmanship, David LaChapelle and Mercedes-Maybach have reunited for the creation of three new original artworks, all unveiled at The Gallery Meravigli, during Milan Design Week at an exclusive event. There was no prescribed brief for the collection, and with creative freedom, LaChapelle decided that the triptych would be inspired by three different historical art movements: Cubism, Futurism, and Surrealism.

The result was the three pieces: “Cubist Scape,” “Future Scape,” and “Surreal Scape.” Each features a Mercedes-Maybach vehicle set seamlessly in a dazzling scene, coming together to form an homage to art history, a pioneering work of art today, and a celebration of Mercedes-Maybach’s signature approach to automotive luxury.

The pieces will become a part of the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection, a collection that was first established in 1977 and now has over 3,000 works by over 800 artists, and stands as one one of Europe’s most important corporate art collections. Through the collection, Mercedes-Benz nurtures the arts by preserving important works, exhibiting them to the public, as these new pieces by David LaChapelle will be worldwide in the future, and collaborating with artists across the globe. When one of the most celebrated photographers, and one of the most desirable marques in automotive luxury come together, the result is bound to be a work of art.
