The first ultra-exclusive Mythos series car takes shape.
At this year’s prestigious Monaco Grand Prix, where supercar and yachting excellence appear in full force, Mercedes-Benz revealed a new concept called the AMG PureSpeed Concept. This racing-inspired, completely open supercar was hinted at being the first in Mercedes-Benz’s Mythos Series, a lineup of highly exclusive, limited-production cars meant for collectors that Mercedes-Benz teased years ago. Now, that concept has become a fleet of prototypes in final testing as the new masterpiece prepares to be revealed as a production version.
The new Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed prototypes have been seen on various roads in Italy on their way to Nardò to be tested as part of a testing program that spans over 1,800 miles. Partnering with the legendary Pininfarina on the project, the testing program is meant to test the validity of the car in a wide range of real-life conditions, especially the integrity of the unique body style at high speeds and on the track.
One of the most unique aspects of the car is the HALO system, which sits in place of a traditional A-pillar, a solution derived directly from the prestigious pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1. Specially designed, aerodynamically-optimized helmets pair with the system for racing-readiness and safety. Only 250 units of the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed will be made. Inspired by motorsport’s classic and modern legends throughout the years, the new ultra-exclusive Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed will be an exciting kickoff to the anticipated Mythos series.
