Their latest press release hints at the details of their new “Electric Versatility Program”. After intensive research with customer fleets, they have honed in on 3 battery positions and multiple cab configurations. This modular approach will be welcomed by upfitters. The goal is to lower the Total Cost of Ownership to the business, thus allowing them to be more profitable. Considering the powertrain used by our friends at Airstream, their Interstate series is built around a twin-turbo V6 diesel. Not only must they work around the driveshaft and fuel systems, but the auxiliary generator also requires its own fuel, battery management, and packaging concerns.

Marcus Breitschwerdt is the head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, and he says: “The Sprinter has been demonstrating our competence in the transport field for a quarter of a century. In the field of electromobility, we have initiated many innovations in recent years. With the implementation of our accelerated electrification strategy, we’re combining the best of both worlds – our innovation and expertise!” Click the button below for a glimpse of what the Sprinter lineup is capable of and stay with us for all your Mercedes-Benz news.
