Rare Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss Now For Sale

Back in June, we told you why you should own a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. Notwithstanding that it was the first major use of carbon fiber in a production car, the extremely limited production run makes it one of the most sought after cars in recent history.

To celebrate the ending of the productive partnership between both of the car’s manufacturers, the final 75 SLR’s were dedicated as a tribute to Sir Stirling Moss’ 300 SLR that was campaigned in the Mille Miglia. Built in the spirit of open-air racing, the SLR McLaren Stirling Moss has no convertible top, or even a windshield.

The interior is Spartan at best, with the radio and infotainment displays being replaced with carbon fiber. Racing buckets are covered in black and red leather in a classic pattern, and the shifter plate is emblazoned with the signature of Sir Moss himself. A majority of the 75 cars were silver, which makes this example much more significant.

The only speedster capable of 217 mph is powered by the 650 hp supercharged 5.5-liter V8 from the SLR 722 edition. It also comes with doors, but they are much smaller than the pair found on the production SLR. Sixty miles-per-hour arrives in 3.5 seconds, if you don’t mind the wind in your face. An optional canvas tonneau cover covers the interior, and can be split in half to only cover the passenger area.
