The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX continues to make long strides for electric mobility, literally.

The Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX proved an important point for the viability of electric mobility when it managed to drive over 621 miles from Stuttgart, Germany to Cassis, France in April on a single charge. However, it didn’t rest there. This time, the car managed to drive 747 miles, going from Stuttgart, Germany all the way to Silverstone in the UK, where it was able to do 11 laps on the iconic British track before using the last of its charge. Its journey faced challenges like heavy traffic, summer weather, and varying environments from the Autobahn to the Eurotunnel and to the M25 around London, and it was easily able to brave them all.

Temperatures up to 86 degrees Fahrenheit meant that the thermal management system that helped the Vision EQXX make its first long-distance journey had to prove even more effective for this journey. Careful engineering of the electric drive unit and the lightweight thermal management system allowed it to keep an efficient temperature without using any unnecessary energy. Even after finishing its journey to Silverstone, the EQXX was able to reach its maximum limited speed of 87 mph on the track as Mercedes-EQ Formula E driver Nyck de Vries pushed it to its limit. After 11 laps, 747 miles were counted on the single charge that the car had. After being recharged, it set off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where visitors can see the incredible progress Mercedes-Benz has made in electric mobility and luxury.
