Their time of 40 hours and 51 minutes was a tribute to legendary racer “Cannonball Baker”. Several more runs involved Dan Gurney, Richard Rawlings, Dennis Collins, Alex Roy, just to name a few.
Our friend Ed Bolian was the first to do it under 29 hours, and given the modifications to his Mercedes-Benz, we assumed it could not be beaten. But as the founder of VINwiki, he has inspired another team that has crossed the nation in a much quicker time.
