2015 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Review

If you’re looking for something practical, functional and capable, the 2015 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is a great option. It comes with an attractive exterior, a spacious interior and a drivetrain that makes the SUV more economical than ever before.

On the outside, the Highlander Hybrid is quite the looker, thanks to a refresh Toyota gave the SUV back in 2014. Instead of a bulky appearance, it’s now more sleek and sharp, with more graceful design lines.

Inside, seating for seven is on-hand. For those looking for a vehicle to haul a family in, this model will suit your needs perfectly. The second row seats are captain’s chairs, while the third row is a bench with seating for three. To travel from the second row to the third row was quite simple, as the seating arrangement made for quick passage. The interior also offers up some helpful technology, like an 8-inch touchscreen where the backup camera and media information can be viewed, and three-zone automatic climate control.

Underneath the Highlander Hybrid’s hood is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that works with electric motors. Altogether, this system can produce 280 hp. This number isn’t huge, but remember that this is a Hybrid SUV built for functionality and economy. Speaking of economy, it comes with a combined city/high rating of 28 mpg (27/28). The window sticker for the car states that the average fuel economy from standard SUVs ranged from 13-26 mpg, putting the Highlander at the top of its class.

Sure, the Highlander Hybrid isn’t going to turn heads or break a quarter-mile record, but that’s not what it was built for. It was built for the driver who needs plenty of space for a family or for stowing, without shelling out at the gas station.
