McLaren 675LT Spider: It’s Finally Here

McLaren Automotive has pulled back the sheets and unveiled the brand-new 675LT Spider, a drop-top version of the popular 675LT.

Unveiled in a press release issued today issued by the English automaker, this new model features a retractable roof that “adds further exhilaration” to an already exciting model. This “three-piece retractable folding hardtop” can be operated at speeds of up to 19 mph, for those wondering.

Now, when it comes to convertible versions of pre-existing models, there are a few points that need to be addressed. The first is the car’s weight, considering the addition of a retractable roof can add a few pounds. As for the 675LT Spider, however, it actually loses 220 lbs, bringing the total weight to 2,800 lbs.

Combine that weight with the twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 that produces 666 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, and you have a power-to-weight ratio of 4.2 lbs per hp.

In the press release, McLaren states that the 675LT Spider will rocket from 0-60 mph in a blistering 2.9 seconds and can achieve 124 mph in 8.1 seconds – just .2 seconds shy of the coupe. Looking for a top speed? McLaren points out in the car’s technical statistics that it tops out at 203 mph.

If you’re interested in adding a McLaren 675LT Spider to your collection, they start at $372,600 USD and will be limited to 500 units globally.
