90th Birthday for the Derby era 1

Bentley Motors

Bentley Motors commemorates the 90th anniversary of the Derby Bentley with a gathering of 60 classic models and an exclusive black-tie dinner in Crewe.

The Derby Bentley holds a special place in Bentley Motors‘ history, serving as the first Bentley produced under Rolls Royce ownership and setting the design and engineering standards. Bentley Motors recently marked the 90th anniversary of the legendary Derby Bentley with a private celebration at their Crewe headquarters. Organized by The Silent Sports Car Club, a fleet of 60 vintage Derby Bentleys made a grand entrance to the Dream Factory in Crewe. Over 100 guests were treated to a tour of the Bentley campus, an up-close look at the refurbished Heritage Collection, and exclusive visits to the Mulliner workshops.

The star of the show was Bentley’s own 1934 3½ Litre Derby Bentley, a piece of automotive history that features coachwork by Thrupp & Maberley. The vintage masterpiece was proudly displayed in the Lineage area with other pre-war Bentley examples. On Saturday, a one-of-a-kind 1939 MkV Corniche made its appearance at a black-tie dinner commemorating 90 years of Derby Bentley. The Derby Bentley lineup showcased an array of coachwork styles, representing over 40 independent coachbuilders from the 1930s. These models helped set the stage for Bentley’s design language, influencing the Bentleys of the 1950s and even today’s Continental GTs.
