Bentley has announced that the W12 engine that has powered many of its models is ending production in April 2024, which is very soon, and while that may be incredibly sad news, it means that something better is coming soon to take its place, and that the final W12-powered models are going to be very special. With over 100,000 units of the W12 engine made, Bentley calls it “the most successful 12-cylinder engine of the modern era,” and models that used it like the Flying Spur, Continental, and Bentayga show us why.
As a celebration of the engine’s power and innovation, Bentley has announced a “Speed Edition 12” collection of cars that will honor it, available for the Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT, and Continental GTC. However, only 120 of each will be made. To commemorate the special limited edition, each car will be decorated with special Edition 12 badging, embroidery, treadplates, and more. Most importantly, the cars will feature a numbered engine plaque. Owners will also receive a 15% scale W12 engine block model, celebrating the incredible 20 years in which this engine represented the height of Bentley’s luxury and performance potential.
