Ever since the launch of the avant-garde and polarizing concept version at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2021 before BMW M’s 50th anniversary year in 2022, fans of the staple name in German performance have been curious about the destiny of the strikingly-designed luxury performance SUV. It wasn’t long after that that it was revealed as a new model and the first BMW M plug-in hybrid, featuring an M HYBRID system paired with a V8 engine to become an incredibly powerful luxury SUV. However, BMW made it clear that more was in store, promising a “Label Red” version of the new XM that would be even more shocking, and now it’s here.
With an incredible 748 horsepower, the new BMW XM Label Red is the most powerful BMW M model ever made, and its hybrid system echoes the concept of the BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh race car, which is currently competing on the IMSA endurance racing stage. The system also puts out a maximum of 737 lb/ft of torque, with powerful contributions from both the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine and the electric motors. The full result: a 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph with the M Driver’s package.

With the striking design of the XM, personalization and unique looks are important factors. Available Toronto Red accents, as well as 9 paint options, plus over 50 BMW Individual paint colors available will make the car a statement piece for any owner’s collection. However, BMW has announced a limited edition version of the XM Label Red, which will be restricted to 500 examples pairing Frozen Carbon Black Metallic with Toronto Red accents.
Inside, carbon fiber interior detailing will feature red and blue stripes honoring BMW M’s signature color scheme. Pricing is still to be announced, but with the BMW XM starting at a steep $159,000, the Label Red version of the luxury performance SUV is sure to cost more. Production is set to begin this August at BMW’s Spartanburg plant. The new BMW XM Label Red shows that a luxury SUV can be a serious performance machine.
