Genesis Reveals The Electrified G80 in Shanghai

Their first high-voltage sedan!

You are in for a treat if you’ve never experienced Hyundai’s most popular sedan. The G80 is a plush cruiser with all the amenities of German or Japanese cars along with a better warranty. While their competitors are taking it slow with battery power, Genesis has revealed the Electrified G80 in Shanghai.

At your command is AWD capable of launching to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. Preliminary estimates at the range of 265 miles, and it has a few tricks up its sleeve along the way. DAS is a “Disconnect Actuator System”. It switches between AWD and RWD to maximize range given the road conditions.

The drivetrain is a 400/800-volt system that allows for DC quick-charging to 80% in 22 minutes. Perhaps the neatest feature is a 3.6 kW external socket to power anything outside the car. Other goodies like Active Noise Control and Adaptive Suspension are borrowed from their GV80 SUV, and the charging port is hidden next to the grille in plain sight.
