As early pioneers in hybrid hypercar engineering, the professionals at McLaren focused their efforts and resources on building an efficient track star to compete against the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. McLaren is proud to celebrate a decade of hybrid performance with the P1, which was announced with the goal of being the ultimate driver’s car. Making its debut as the first McLaren Ultimate at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013, the McLaren P1 showcased a ground-breaking carbon fiber construction, F1-inspired aerodynamics, and advanced hybrid powertrain technologies.

Limited to only 375 customer cars, each McLaren P1 was hand-assembled by specialists at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking, UK. The hypercar features McLaren’s 3.8L Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine and makes an incredible 727 brake horsepower. The McLaren P1’s total 903bhp is achieved using a lightweight electric motor producing 176bhp, increasing overall torque to 664 foot-pounds. Continuing its push towards the goal of electric supercar efficiency, McLaren applies the successful characteristics of the P1 to its new electrified Artura model. The McLaren Artura’s new high-performance hybrid powertrain is accessible to more drivers as a full-production supercar.
