According to a Facebook post made by Mercedes-AMG, the car will feature a Formula One World Champion drivetrain that is combined with a purely electric front axle drive setup. How much power will be housed within this powertrain? They say it will have more than 1,000 hp (735 kW) on tap, putting it right into the hypercar range. What’s more, the Facebook post also noted that it’s currently being called the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE.

MotorAuthority had a chance to chat with Tobias Moers, the man behind Mercedes-AMG, while at the NAIAS. They learned that the F1 power unit will use a 1.6-liter V6 engine, two motor-generators and a lithium-ion battery. Additionally, they learned that “no more than 300 examples will be built” and it will have a price of around $2.54 million.
