Swedish carmaker Polestar continues to expand its performance-oriented offerings with the arrival of the 2023 Polestar 2 BST Edition 230. Built as the successor to last year’s Edition 270, this latest car follows a similar formula: big power, sporty suspension, and an even sportier exterior.

As its name suggests, last year’s Edition 270’s production run consisted of just 270 cars globally. Its successor, the Edition 230, is no different, with around 60 cars destined for North America out of the planned 230-unit run. This latest BST is a dual-motor Polestar 2 equipped with the Plus, Pilot, and Performance packs. However, its ride height is lower by 0.98 in (25 mm), and it features unique Öhlins 2-way adjustable dampers, a strut bar, and 20 percent stiffer springs.

This, then, is more of a driver-focused Polestar 2. However, with 476 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque from its dual-motor setup, it’ll still hit 60 mph in a swift 4.2 seconds. Courtesy of the included Performance pack, it features Brembo four-piston brakes up front with 15.7 in rotors and a single-piston caliper with 15.3 in discs in the rear.

While these performance improvements are welcomed, they’re primarily carryovers from last year’s Edition 270. New for this latest limited variant are its 21-in gloss black wheels, which take inspiration from the Polestar 1, bespoke Pirelli P Zero tires, and a software update that increases output to that aforementioned 476 hp, figure up from its predecessor’s 469-hp output.

Visually, the Edition 230 is available in two colors, Space or Nebula, each with an optional matte black stripe down the car’s center. Its interior features a new micro-suede texture made out of partly recycled Nubuck. The result is a performance variant that doesn’t look drastically different from its predecessor but improves by subtly tweaking its exterior and the look and feel of its cabin.

According to Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath, “Limited drops like the BST edition 230 allow us to explore colors, graphics, and materials in faster and more creative ways.”

The 2023 Polestar 2 BST Edition 230 starts at $80,900 and is available to order on a first-come, first-served basis via the carmaker’s website. Deliveries are expected to begin later this year, during Q3.
