With F1 engineering and no holds barred, this small car delivers big performance.
It might look like a toy, but the Spéirling from McMurtry Automotive is a very serious machine when it comes to performance innovation. It was conceived by Sir David McMurtry, a British entrepreneur who asked Formula 1 engineers to make the most ludicrous performance car that they possibly could, and this is what they came up with. With an all-electric powertrain and a dual-motor rear-wheel drive drivetrain, the car is capable of achieving a power-to-weight ratio of 1,000 horsepower per metric ton, and in addition, the car itself is a “fan car,” something that was seen in motorsport history, which uses a fan to generate immense downforce even before the car gets to speed.

Already, the incredible little car has broken the record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s famed Hillclimb with an incredible time of 39.08 seconds. Now, the McMurtry Spéirling has used its innovation and performance potential to achieve a blinding quarter-mile time of just 8.35 seconds, and a 0-60 time just above 1.4 seconds. With these numbers, the McMurtry Spéirling bests current records for the fastest-accelerating production cars of all time, and becomes one of the most innovative and intimidating hypercars ever made.
