Porsche celebrates the holidays with its new Macan Electric.
The Porsche Macan Electric is a reimagination of one of the most iconic and celebrated models from the manufacturer. Originally coming on the scene a decade ago as a smaller luxury performance SUV that became an instant hit, the Macan Electric imbues the same formula with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology, becoming Porsche’s second all-electric model after the high-performance Taycan.
At the top of the current Porsche Macan Electric lineup is the Porsche Macan Electric Turbo, which boasts 630 horsepower and 833 lb/ft of torque. The high-performance electric luxury SUV is the star of Porsche’s latest holiday campaign, showcasing the vehicle’s journey along the Silberstraße in Germany during the peak of the festive season.
The Silberstraße journey starts near the country’s southeastern border with Czechia, in the Ore Mountains. 800 years ago, miners there struck silver, shaping the history and trajectory of the region. The road is an 87-mile trading corridor that was first established in the 12th century, and today, it’s an official scenic route that is made of a network of old trails. Historic mining sites are dotted along the route, which eventually gives way to a medieval town called Schwarzenberg.
Nestled there is a piece of Porsche’s own history, Porsche Werkzeugbau. A historic toolmaking facility for Porsche, the site has been a crucial part of automotive history for the celebrated manufacturer. Seiffen was another town along the route, and, nicknamed the “Toy Village,” it is the unofficial German Christmas capital. The quiet yet powerful Porsche Macan Turbo journeys through the whimsically decorated town for Christmas shopping and festive spirit. Freiberg, the historic silver capital along the route, was another stop, and then Dresden, home to one of the world’s oldest Christmas markets, Striezelmarkt.
The route for the Porsche Macan Turbo ended with a return home, specifically to Porsche Werk Leipzig, where the Macan and the Panamera are manufactured. Porsche Charging Lounges at Himmelkron and Estenfeld made the trip easy and effortless, with luxurious amenities complementing convenient charging. With the power and luxury of the Macan Turbo, the journey along the Silberstraße, the “road to Christmas,” brought holiday celebration and spirit in futuristic, high-tech Porsche style.
