Reports from luxury manufacturers over the past few years have seen record numbers of deliveries and unprecedented rates of growth, and 2015 could turn out to be no different, as press releases from Daimler, Porsche and Jaguar Land Rover report.
The record reached for Mercedes-Benz is that of delivering 1 million models already in 2015. As they shared Aug. 6, the 149,753 vehicles delivered in July pushed their year-to-date total to 1,048,178. The number is increased past 1.1 million when including smart car sales totals. The marque credits the C-Class and compact cars with this insane success; a quarter of the deliveries were C-Class Saloons and Estates.
Porsche has also seen a growth in deliveries for 2015, with an Aug. 7 sharing their year-to-date total reaching 134,717 worldwide. When compared to the same sales quarter for 2014, the marque has seen a 28.5 percent increase. 20,733 of those deliveries were in July alone, with Europe taking the lions share of deliveries. A July 29 release from the marque called it “the most successful half-year in the company’s history.”
Jaguar Land Rover issued their first-quarter reports for the 2015-2016 fiscal year Aug. 7, with a bit of a slide in their numbers. Crediting the decline with a slowed economy in China, total revenue decreased by £351 million (approx. $545.5 million USD*) to £5 billion ($7.77 billion USD*). Yet a slow first half of the year doesn’t necessarily determine the second half – as the release mentions, Jaguar Land Rover’s sales and employment have both doubled in the past five years, with most of the revenue being invested in research and development.
