Porsche’s new adventurous 911 braves the ice.
The Porsche 911 Dakar is like no other production 911 before, boasting off-road ability and unique looks inspired by the rally-spec Porsche 911s that took on the legendary Paris-Dakar Rally in decades past. With the introduction of rally-oriented off-road performance to the production 911 lineup, Porsche has been showing off the new 911 Dakar’s incredible versatility since it was introduced.
The latest test, which is seasonally appropriate, sees the 911 Dakar taking on the snow, and it’s a race. Instead of being against another car, however, the race is against a true downhill dynamo when it comes to winter sports: an Olympic gold medalist skier: Aksel Lund Svindal. The expertise level is evenly matched, as racing driver Jukka Honkavuori pilots the Porsche 911 Dakar.
The man vs machine race was intense, with both the skier and the Porsche 911 Dakar confidently carving through the snowy slopes, kicking up an immense white cloud behind them as they raced to the bottom.
However, the snowy race is just the beginning of a season of snowy spectacles for Porsche, as the race serves as a promotion for the 2024 Porsche Ice Experience, the upcoming 2024 season of the incredible event where Porsche enthusiasts and owners take to the vast, cold expanses to experience driving a high performance Porsche in the snow and ice, of course in a safe and controlled environment. Despite the low temperatures, the adrenaline level is high in both this epic race and at the upcoming Porsche Ice Experience.
