FAT Mankei celebrates two years in Porsche style.
In the early chapters of Porsche’s history, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in Austria was an important location for testing and developing models. A gorgeous mountain pass with incredible vistas and some of the most engaging driving a road can offer, the Grossglockner is still an auspicious place in Porsche’s legacy, and it’s where the FAT Mankei, a restaurant and community hub for car enthusiasts that is the brainchild of Ferdinand Porsche, the grandson of the founder of Porsche.
The restaurant opened in 2023 and has since served as a gathering place for automotive enthusiasts of all kinds to celebrate the joy of driving, especially along the Grossglockner with its mountainous views and landscape, as well as its historical significance. This year, FAT Mankei reopened after its winter break last month, kicking off the season with a two-day celebration of Porsche excellence. With incredible cars on display, the celebration was an amazing gathering of car culture and Porsche history.
Racing legends like the number 17 Porsche 962 C, the 917/30 Spyder, and the Paris Dakar 911 Carrera 3.2 4×4 with the Rothmans livery were on display. In addition, other masterpieces like the 944 Turbo Cup, Taycan Turbo GT, and 911 RSR were also present. Creating the biggest spectacle at the event were the road-legal Porsche 917K, and its modern-day successor, the one-off Porsche 963 RSP Le Mans hypercar. With the reopening celebration of the FAT Mankei restaurant showing off the FAT International automotive enthusiast lifestyle brand and community, Porsche’s amazing historic and modern masterpieces made the event a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
