Not the fastest trip across the country, but the least amount of time spent charging.

When we see cross-country records, they’re usually for the shortest amount of time spent getting from coast to coast. However, the recent record set by Wayne Gerdes in a Porsche Taycan is for the shortest amount of time spent charging during a cross-country trip. The previous record that Gerdes needed to beat was 7 hours, 10 minutes, and 1 second… and he smashed it. Once he completed his trip from Los Angeles, California to Ney York City, he racked up just 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 48 seconds spent charging. In order for Gerdes to have his new record to meet the standard of the Guinness World Records, he had to note every stop with independent witnesses at each one, the entire trip was recorded and recorded via GPS and all information was certified by a panel of adjudicators.

Gerdes had this to say regarding his record: “I’m proud and honestly a little surprised to have set the new benchmark by such a margin. The Taycan performed even better than expected. Its performance, comfort and road holding were excellent, but the standout metric alongside the charging capacity was its efficiency. I’m grateful to both Porsche for supporting me and to Electrify America’s network, which made it possible.”
