Porsche’s electric performance hero takes on the drag strip.
After introducing the Taycan as the first all-electric model to come from the Porsche manufacturer, the model was given a second generation, which included a new benchmark-setting performance variant of the Taycan: the Taycan Turbo GT. With over 1,000 horsepower, the Taycan Turbo GT earned the distinction of being the most powerful production roadgoing model from Porsche when it was introduced. Along with that, the Taycan Turbo GT snagged multiple records on racetracks across the globe since its introduction, and now, it’s set yet another one at the Sydney Dragway.
Doing an insanely fast quarter-mile run in just 9.083 seconds at a speed of 156.61 mph, the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is believed to be the fastest unmodified production car not only to take on the Sydney Dragway, but on any Australian drag strip. The speed even exceeded a rule set by the International Hot Rod Association that stipulates that cars going over 150 mph be equipped with a parachute.
Taking on a venue where heavily modified vehicles with massive engines usually shine, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT’s performance at the Sydney Dragway is yet another achievement that proves the Turbo GT’s engineering excellence and changes the expectations of electric vehicles in the performance world. Pushing the boundaries of performance in general, the new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT gets yet another record that proves its mettle.
