Race of Champions Stunt Driver Terry Grant And The Porsche Taycan Set An Electrifying Record In Sweden

Unlike Krispy Kreme, these donuts are actually quite cold.

The 2022 Race of Champions in Sweden marked the first time that the event had ever been held on snowy, icy terrain, and this made for quite the spectacle. Just 60 miles south of the Arctic Circle, the Swedish landscape stayed frigid even while the rest of the Northern Hemisphere started to emerge from winter. To break the ice, ROC’s resident stunt driver Terry Grant and a Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo decided to put on a record-setting show.

What Terry Grant did was, according to the Guinness Book of World Records complete the highest number of donuts in an electric vehicle on ice, with 69 donuts carved into the snow. This was a much greater challenge than it seemed because as the Taycan kicked up ice during its donuts, an ingenious safety feature in the car turned into a roadblock when it came to doing donuts. As the ice began to accumulate on the underside of the car, it would activate a sensor that caused the car to behave as if it were involved in a serious accident and shut down. However, using slightly less power in the donuts helped Terry Grant overcome this challenge and set the record.
