The Rolls-Royce Spectre proves its worth even before it shocks the automotive world.

By introducing its very first all-electric production model, the Spectre, the Rolls-Royce brand set in motion an entirely transformative change and ushered in a new chapter in the brand’s century-long history. With its hard-earned reputation for unparalleled craftsmanship and engineering for the sole purpose of unadulterated automotive luxury, Rolls-Royce needs to make sure that a transformative car like the Spectre is done right the first time. In order to make sure that happens, the manufacturer embarked on a testing program in which over 1.5 million miles would be covered, and as a round of hot weather testing begins in South Africa, Rolls-Royce announces that it has covered roughly 1.2 million miles of that distance.

This announcement comes as the manufacturer claims that the Spectre has already taken the place of the most anticipated Rolls-Royce in the brand’s history. Its success will not only determine the future of the model itself, but that of the entire brand as at it transitions towards the upcoming electric era. The hot weather testing in South Africa, where temperatures can reach as high as 122 degrees Fahrenheit, is done to ensure that every component of the car will retain its integrity even in the most extreme conditions. Once this testing is complete, Rolls-Royce aims not only to make the electric Spectre sit on par with other Rolls-Royce models, but to also make it one of the greatest Rolls-Royce cars yet.
