50th Anniversary Cobra Daytona Coupe Series Announced

Fifty years ago, Carroll Shelby and team won the FIA World Championship, mostly thanks to the sleek lines of their “Daytona Coupe.”

Essentially a hard top version of the Cobra roadster, it allowed for higher top speeds and more stability thanks to extensive aerodynamic testing. Last year Shelby American celebrated the anniversary of the Roadster, building a limited number of anniversary cars. This year, as announced in a July 15 press release and July 16 Facebook post, they are offering 50 “Continuation Coupes” in either aluminum or fiberglass.

This is indeed historic, as it’s the first time Shelby has offered a continuation coupe in aluminum. Delivered as a rolling chassis, they will feature sequential serial numbers from CSX9950 to CSX9999 and arrive with modern disc brakes. The base aluminum Shelby Daytona Coupe is set at $349,995, while the fiberglass version starts at $179,995. Neither price includes the drivetrain.
